John Galifianakis Arrested for Impersonating Officer, Gun Possession

Fake IDs, firearms found during arrest at Social Services office

A 73-year-old man, John Galifianakis, was arrested in Uniondale after attempting to impersonate a police officer at the Department of Social Services building. Galifianakis entered the building and asked an employee for help with safeguarding his firearm. The employee grew suspicious and immediately contacted 911.

Upon arrival, Nassau County Police officers discovered Galifianakis in possession of multiple firearms, fake identification cards, and law enforcement gear. The suspect was arrested without incident.

Galifianakis faces charges that include forgery, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, and failing to safeguard a firearm.
