THOMASVILLE, NC — A routine traffic stop by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on May 22, 2025, led to the arrest of John Dallas Idol Jr., who was found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Deputies pulled Idol over on Unity Street in Thomasville and discovered he was driving without a valid license. As he is currently on probation and subject to warrantless searches, authorities searched his vehicle and found illegal substances.
Idol was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Detention Center. A magistrate found probable cause for several charges, including felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession, driving while license revoked, displaying a fictitious tag, and lacking liability insurance.
Due to Idol’s status on pre-trial release with pending charges, no bond was issued. His first court appearance was scheduled for May 23, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
