KINGSTON, N.Y. — A former Kingston chiropractor has been sentenced to state prison after being convicted on multiple charges related to child sex abuse material, according to prosecutors.

John Boyle, 34, was sentenced Friday to a total prison term ranging from 7.3 to 20 years. The sentence covers several felony convictions, including promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, promoting a sexual performance by a child, possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Authorities said Boyle was found in possession of thousands of images and videos depicting child sex abuse material. Investigators also determined that he shared several of the illegal images with his wife, Danielle Scofield-Boyle, as well as with other individuals.

Danielle Scofield-Boyle was sentenced in October to six months in jail followed by 10 years of probation in connection with the case.

Following his release from prison, Boyle will be required to register as a sex offender.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Jenna Hastings addressed the court at sentencing, stating that the material involved was among the most severe she had encountered. She described Boyle as a danger to the community and to children, including his own.

Boyle’s sentencing follows a separate arrest by Town of Ulster police related to an alleged assault involving his 19-month-old child. He was indicted on November 20 on charges of assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and aggravated harassment.
