John Baskins Charged in Florence Burglary Case

Police say Baskins was caught with stolen items, tools

FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) — A Florence man is facing multiple charges after police say he was caught during an active burglary Thursday night.

John Baskins, 42, was arrested after Florence police responded to a reported burglary in progress on State Street. Officers found Baskins walking through the back of the property, and a search revealed he was carrying several tools commonly used for breaking and entering.

Authorities charged Baskins with burglary in the 3rd degree, theft of property in the 4th degree, and possession of burglar’s tools.

He was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center with bond set at $18,000.
