HALLETTSVILLE, Texas – Jody Mildred Thompson, former principal of Ezzell ISD, has been arrested by authorities in Lavaca County on a felony theft charge.
Thompson is accused of stealing between $2,500 and $30,000, according to officials. She is currently being held on a $5,000 bond.
Records from Ezzell ISD Board of Trustees show that Thompson’s contract was initially approved on February 11, 2025. She was reportedly absent that day due to illness and did not give the principal’s report.
On May 12, 2025, the board raised concerns about her lack of required certifications, and subsequently moved to nullify her 2024–25 and 2025–26 contracts.
Further details surrounding the alleged theft have not yet been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
