J&K Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers in Kulgam with 2.7 kg Cannabis

Major drug haul includes charas and cannabis in South Kashmir crackdown

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu & Kashmir Police arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam district, South Kashmir, recovering a significant quantity of narcotics. The special police team, led by the in-charge of Police Post Mirbazar and supervised by the Additional Superintendent of Police for National Highway Qazigund, apprehended the suspects during routine patrolling at Baghi Sakloo, Mirbazar.

On searching the individuals, police recovered 80 grams of charas and 2.7 kilograms of wet cannabis leaves. The arrested have been identified as Zahid Bashir Bhat of Bonpora Nambal, Anantnag; Aidal Ahmad Wani of Khandaypora Krangsoo, Anantnag; and Razwan Ahmad Itoo of Hangalpahlo, Pahalgam, Anantnag.

A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund (FIR No. 201/2025), and investigations are ongoing. Authorities urged the public to report any drug-related activity by contacting local police or dialing 112, emphasizing community cooperation to eradicate the drug menace. Police reaffirmed their commitment to taking strict action against criminals under the law.
