In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended two suspected drug dealers on Monday in separate operations conducted in Baramulla and Awantipora districts.
In Baramulla, authorities arrested Rozia Begum, wife of Shabir Ahmad Sheikh from Fatehgarh, after recovering 153 grams of charas-like substance from her possession. Acting on specific intelligence, the Sheeri Police Station set up a checkpoint near STC Sheeri, where Rozia was intercepted and taken into custody. A case has been registered under FIR No. 38/2025 under the NDPS Act, with investigations ongoing.
Meanwhile, Awantipora Police detained Faizan Farooq Allie, son of Farooq Ahmad Allie of Kadlabal Noorpora, at a checkpoint in Charligund after seizing 4.40 grams of a brown sugar-like narcotic. The operation was led by the Station House Officer under the supervision of DySP (Probationer) Atif Zahoor. FIR No. 152/2025 has been filed, and the probe is underway.
Police have urged citizens to stay alert and report suspicious activities or drug-related information to the nearest police station or by dialing 112. “We remain committed to combating drug trafficking and protecting the youth from this growing menace,” a police spokesperson said.
