In a major breakthrough, Mumbai Police arrested Jignesh Kuchhadiya, a 19-year-old employee of a jewellery firm, for allegedly stealing gold jewellery worth Rs13 crore from his employer, JP Export Gold and Diamond Jewellery. The company operates in Gujarat and South India.

According to Maharashtra Housing Board (MHB) Police, the theft was reported by JP Export after the company’s representatives, Ajay Ghagda (27) and Kuchhadiya, failed to account for the missing gold. Within three days, police tracked Kuchhadiya to Gujarat and arrested him.

In a swift operation, they also arrested his father and another associate, recovering approximately Rs11 crore worth of stolen gold.

Police said Kuchhadiya, who worked as an assistant in the jewellery business, had access to high-value inventory and exploited the trust of his employer.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are probing if more people were involved or if part of the stolen gold has already been sold or hidden.
