The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested several suspected drug dealers and recovered more than 4,600 wraps of illicit drugs during coordinated raids across the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, the arrests were described as the outcome of intelligence-led operations conducted in multiple local government areas as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and related crimes.
Among those arrested was Mutari Shu’aibu, a 20-year-old resident of Dutse Local Government Area. Police said he was apprehended alongside other suspects in towns including Guri, Gumel, Sara, Shuwarin, Sundimina, Kazaure, Miga/Madori, Ringim, Birnin Kudu, and Kafin Hausa.
According to the statement, the suspects were found in possession of a total of 4,658 wraps and quantities of suspected hard drugs believed to be intended for sale within local communities. All recovered substances were documented and secured as exhibits.
Following investigations, police said all suspects have been charged to court.
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised the officers involved for their professionalism, diligence, and commitment to duty. He reiterated that the command would not relent in its crackdown on drug trafficking, abuse, and other criminal activities that threaten public safety and the future of young people in the state.
The Jigawa State Police Command also appealed to residents to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information, assuring the public of its continued commitment to keeping the state safe and drug-free.
