Jessica M. Leslie, 34, a former member of the federal grand jury that indicted Karen Read, has been charged with criminal contempt for disclosing sealed information to unauthorized individuals. Leslie has agreed to plead guilty, with her court appearance pending.
Charging documents state Leslie shared confidential details, including witness names and testimony, violating federal rules.
Karen Read was acquitted last month in her second trial on charges related to the death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe. Prosecutors alleged Read ran over O’Keefe after heavy drinking and left him in a blizzard. Read maintained her innocence, suggesting a cover-up by O’Keefe’s colleagues.
Read was found guilty only of driving under the influence and sentenced to one year probation.
Leslie faces possible prison time, up to five years of supervised release, and fines up to $250,000.
