Rome, GA – A 30-year-old man, Jesse Lee Medlock, has been arrested after allegedly scamming a woman out of $100 in a false vacuum cleaner sale.
According to police, Medlock took payment from the victim on June 1 for a vacuum cleaner he promised to deliver. However, the item was never received, and the woman reported the incident to authorities.
Following an investigation, Medlock was charged with theft by deception and taken into custody this week.
The case highlights a common scam tactic involving small-item sales that never materialize. Authorities remind residents to be cautious when engaging in person-to-person sales.
