PONCA CITY, Okla. — A 43-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stealing items from a local business and attempting to flee from police, according to the Ponca City Police Department.
Officers responding to the scene said the suspect, identified as Jerrymi Cooper, ran behind the building and disappeared into a wooded area, prompting police to establish a perimeter.
A K-9 unit was deployed, and K-9 Maxx located Cooper in the woods within minutes. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Cooper was transported to the Ponca City Police Department, where he was booked on charges of burglary, obstructing an officer, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation remains ongoing.
