Jerry Hughes Overby, 38, was arrested after allegedly stealing a truck and leading Laredo police on a brief pursuit Friday evening, March 20.
Police received a report of a stolen truck around 6:20 p.m. in the 3100 block of South Jarvis, prompting a citywide lookout. Approximately 20 minutes later, officers located the truck near South Ejido and Pita Mangana.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, Overby fled, initiating a chase that lasted less than two minutes. The suspect crashed the pickup into a fence in the 3100 block of Colombia Drive and attempted to flee on foot.
Overby was apprehended in the 2800 block of Palo Blanco. He faces charges of vehicle theft, evading arrest, and failure to identify himself. The stolen truck has been returned to its owner.
