


Scott City, MO – Three men have been arrested in connection with a recent string of vehicle break-ins in Scott City, according to Police Chief Chris Griggs.
Police responded to reports of suspicious activity in the early morning hours of July 5 at the Oak Street Apartments. Two men were quickly taken into custody at the scene. A third suspect attempted to flee but was later arrested in a nearby bean field.
Investigators believe multiple unlocked vehicles in the areas of Mary Street, Perkins Street, and Oak Street were entered, and personal items were stolen.
Following a search warrant served at an apartment, authorities recovered additional evidence linking the suspects to the crimes.
The suspects have been identified as:
Jeremiah Twiggs II (Cape Girardeau) – Charged with 2nd-degree tampering
Vaquon D. Johnson (Cape Girardeau) – Charged with 2nd-degree tampering
Atyren Z. Daso (Murfreesboro, TN) – Charged with stealing, resisting arrest, and tampering
Chief Griggs stated that the investigation is ongoing, and officers are working to bring the break-in spree to an end. He also urged residents to lock their vehicles to prevent further thefts.
