Jennifer Rose Fortner Arrested for Domestic Battery in Wyoming County

Woman accused of threatening victim and damaging property

WYOMING COUNTY, W.Va. — Deputies from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jennifer Rose Fortner following a domestic violence incident in Matheny on January 12, 2026.

According to officials, Corporals Jacob Ellison and Zach Cook responded to the call at approximately 9:42 p.m. Upon arrival, they met with the victim, who reported being involved in a physical altercation with Fortner.

The complaint states that Fortner grabbed the victim, threatened to kill her, and threatened to burn down the house during the dispute. The victim also reported that Fortner caused damage to property inside the residence.

Fortner was located inside the home, detained, and taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department for processing. She was formally arrested and charged with domestic battery.

Authorities remind the public that domestic violence is taken seriously and encourage victims to report incidents promptly.
