RIDGEWAY, MO — A Ridgeway woman is in custody after being accused of distributing methamphetamine to at least one child on school property.
According to Harrison County Circuit Court records filed on May 28, Jennifer Babbick, 35, faces felony charges for allegedly selling narcotics to minors, including at a school event.
A probable cause statement from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office states that a minor reported an incident from March 15, when she attended a school dance with Babbick’s child. Although Babbick’s child paid for both girls’ admission, Babbick allegedly tried to repay the minor later in the evening with methamphetamine.
The minor also told investigators this was not the first time Babbick had compensated her with drugs and admitted to having previously smoked meth with Babbick.
Because the alleged exchange occurred on Ridgeway R-V School District property, Babbick was charged with distribution of a controlled substance in a protected location — a serious felony under Missouri law.
A warrant for Babbick’s arrest was issued and served on Thursday, with no bond allowed. She remains in custody as of the latest update. A bond hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4.
Authorities have not released further information, and the investigation is ongoing.
