SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — Jeffrey Hensley was arrested Monday morning after police say he fled a store with unpaid merchandise and led officers on a brief foot chase.
According to the Scottsboro Police Department, officers responded around 10:30 a.m. on February 23 to a business on West Willow Street following a report of shoplifting. Using a suspect description, officers located Hensley near another nearby business.
Police said Hensley attempted to hide and ran into a locked room. With the property owner’s permission, officers entered and arrested him after a brief struggle.
During the investigation, officers reportedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession. Hensley was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and fourth-degree theft of property.
He was initially taken to Scottsboro City Jail before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail.
