New York Mills, MN – A 57-year-old New York Mills man, Jeffery Robert Kampsula, is facing serious drug charges after allegedly selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant during a controlled buy.

According to Otter Tail County prosecutors, the Minnesota West Central Drug and Violent Crime Task Force was tipped off by an informant who claimed they could buy drugs from Kampsula. On August 7, 2024, agents arranged a controlled buy, providing the informant with cash and a wireless recording device.

After the transaction at Kampsula’s residence, the informant turned over two baggies of a white, crystalline substance, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The combined weight was approximately 26.5 grams.

A warrant for Kampsula’s arrest was issued on June 17, 2025. He was taken into custody the same day and made his first court appearance on Wednesday. Kampsula is formally charged with first-degree sale of a controlled substance.

He remains in custody as the legal proceedings continue.
