FORT ST. JOHN — In the early morning hours of January 4th, Fort St. John RCMP responded to a theft in progress at a construction site on the 8900 block of 112th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two individuals loading wood materials into a trailer attached to a Dodge pickup truck.
The suspects were promptly arrested without incident. The female suspect was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on February 25, 2025. However, Jean-Paul Roberts, the male suspect, was held in police custody and now faces a charge of failing to comply with a release order. Additionally, he received multiple violation tickets under the BC Motor Vehicle Act, and the Dodge pickup truck was impounded.
“This is a great example of a vigilant member of the public partnering with the police to intervene in a situation,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for Fort St. John.
All stolen materials were returned to the construction site, and Roberts remains in custody until his court appearance on January 7, 2025.
