The city police have arrested two men in connection with a burglary in Odhav in which gold ornaments worth Rs13.1 lakh were stolen from the home of a 39-year-old factory owner earlier this week.

The arrested accused have been identified as Jayantilal Meena (27) and Kanaiya Meena (26), both natives of Udaipur, Rajasthan. According to the complaint, the burglary took place late on Sunday night when the factory owner and his family were away visiting relatives, leaving only his father asleep on the first floor.

Police said the two burglars used a hammer to break the main door lock before entering the house. When the family returned at around 3 a.m. on Monday, they saw the suspects running down from the first floor. Although the complainant attempted to chase them, the duo escaped by jumping off the balcony.

The burglars fled with gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs13.1 lakh, including necklaces, pendants, rings, and other items. Officials added that one more accused—also from Udaipur—is currently absconding.
