Four men tied to the Paterson-based street gang “4K” have been indicted for their alleged involvement in a targeted shooting of rival gang members in November 2022. Acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced the charges, which stem from an ongoing federal investigation into gang violence in the area.
The superseding indictment names Jatrail Avent (also known as “Curry”), Shequan Roberts (“Shingy”), Jahmir Moody (“Jahdi”), and Wizair Johnson (“Wababy”). They are charged with committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. Each also faces previously filed firearms-related charges.
Federal prosecutors allege the defendants are members or associates of the “4K Enterprise,” a local street gang operating near Rosa Parks Boulevard in Paterson. The group is reportedly involved in a range of violent and illegal activities, including shootings, robberies, homicides, and drug trafficking.
According to court documents, on November 6, 2022, the four men allegedly fired on members of a rival group, the “230 Boyz,” who were inside a van, escalating a feud between the two gangs.
If convicted, the defendants could face up to 20 years in prison for the racketeering-related violent crime charge and a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life in prison for the firearm offense. Each charge carries a maximum fine of $250,000. Sentences for the firearm charge must be served consecutively to any other sentence imposed.
Acting U.S. Attorney Habba credited the FBI, ATF, New Jersey State Police, Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, and Paterson Police Department for their work on the case. The investigation is part of the Paterson Violent Crime Initiative, a partnership launched in 2020 to combat rising gang-related violence in the city.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
