SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — A man wanted in connection with a sex crime involving a 14-year-old has been arrested in Shreveport, according to police.
The Shreveport Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit identified Ja’Thomas L. Eddens as the suspect in a felony carnal knowledge case that began several months ago. Investigators say the assault occurred outside of Shreveport’s jurisdiction but was uncovered during their investigation.
While working the case, detectives also learned that Eddens had an active warrant for robbery in San Antonio, Texas.
Shreveport officers successfully located and apprehended Eddens, who was taken into custody on the Texas robbery warrant. Authorities confirm he is being held as extradition proceedings are underway.
The SPD Sex Crimes Unit is now coordinating with the San Antonio Police Department to ensure Eddens is fully prosecuted for both the robbery charge and the sexual assault involving the juvenile victim.
