CANADIAN COUNTY, OK — Two men were arrested after stealing oilfield equipment in Canadian County. The theft involved a trailer filled with copper wiring and industrial batteries, which was reported missing near Northwest 150th Street and Radio Road.

Canadian County deputies say the suspects, 47-year-old Jason Sparkman and 43-year-old James Freeman, were tracked down after investigators used GPS data to locate the stolen trailer. A traffic stop was conducted near Northwest Expressway and Mustang Road, where deputies successfully apprehended the men.

Sheriff Chris West emphasized the importance of protecting local infrastructure, stating, “This case highlights how critical it is to protect vital infrastructure in our county. Oil and gas sites are essential to our local economy and public safety. When criminals target these operations, they’re not just stealing property—they’re jeopardizing resources that support entire communities.”

Both Sparkman and Freeman were booked into the Canadian County Detention Center on multiple charges, including grand larceny.
