SHREVEPORT, La. – A man with a lengthy criminal history has been arrested after allegedly stealing diesel fuel from a construction site in Shreveport.

On September 1, just after 6 a.m., Shreveport Police responded to a reported theft in the 3400 block of Knight Street, near the YMCA soccer field. Employees of a construction company working at the site confronted a man caught in the act of siphoning fuel.

The company had previously experienced similar thefts and had installed surveillance cameras, which captured clear footage of the suspect, identified as Jason Rudolph, 46, stealing diesel.

When confronted, Rudolph attempted to flee in his vehicle, striking two employee vehicles in the process. Construction workers managed to detain him until officers arrived.

Upon searching the scene, officers discovered that Rudolph had cut the lock on the fueling system. They also found cutting tools and other evidence linking him to the theft.

A background check revealed that Rudolph is a habitual offender with multiple prior convictions, including offenses related to firearms, stolen property, forgery, and access device fraud.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on the following charges:

Two counts of aggravated property damage

Theft of fuel

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
