A Swansea man, Jason Maddocks, 36, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison after leading police on a high-speed pursuit across North Wiltshire.
The chase began on 1st October 2024 in Corsham when officers attempted to stop Maddocks’ vehicle, which was suspected of carrying a vulnerable missing person from South Wales. Despite police signals, Maddocks failed to stop.
The pursuit covered several villages, including Yatton Keynell, Castle Combe, and Acton Turville, before heading onto the M4 towards Chippenham. It finally ended at Hullavington Airfield after Maddocks caused extensive damage to multiple vehicles. Cocaine was also found inside the car. The missing person was safely recovered.
At Swansea Crown Court on 14th November, Maddocks was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment and disqualified from driving for three years and seven months.
PC Nick Slade said:
“Maddocks showed absolutely no regard for anyone’s safety while fleeing police, driving at excess speeds, at times towards oncoming traffic, and even reaching 100mph on the hard shoulder. This was completely unacceptable. The custodial sentence and driving ban ensure he no longer poses a danger to road users.”
