Two Arrested for Stealing Trailer and Generator in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Minn. (Valley News Live) — Two individuals have been arrested in Clay County after stealing a trailer and a generator on Sunday morning.

The suspects, 37-year-old Jason Austin from Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, and 44-year-old Joshua Moen from Crosby, Minnesota, are both facing theft and trespassing charges.

On September 8, at 8:22 a.m., Clay County Deputies responded to a call from the area of 90th Avenue and 170th North regarding a stolen trailer and generator. The generator, which powered an irrigation system, was found to be valued at $45,000, along with the trailer it was mounted on.

While searching for the vehicle, authorities located the generator in a slough area, with the vehicle found nearby. Deputies set up a perimeter and began a search for the suspects. Austin was spotted walking along a gravel road and arrested.

Later that day, a Minnesota State Trooper on patrol near Highway 9 and 90th Avenue North saw Moen walking along the road. Moen was sweating heavily, appeared dirty, and lacked personal items. He was positively identified and taken into custody.

Both suspects are currently being held in the Clay County Correctional Center.
