LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — A man was arrested Thursday on drug trafficking charges while he was already out on bond for separate drug offenses, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) reported.
47-year-old Jarvis Deshun Cain of Athens was stopped by deputies on Huntsville-Brownsferry Road near Ripley Road on Jan. 29. A vehicle search during the traffic stop revealed nearly a quarter pound of cocaine and approximately seven ounces of MDMA pills.
Authorities also discovered that Cain, a convicted felon, was carrying a firearm, which he is legally prohibited from possessing. At the time, Cain was out on bond for previous charges including drug trafficking, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Cain was charged with two counts of drug trafficking and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. He was issued a $1.5 million bond for the new charges but is being held without bond due to the revocation of his previous bond. He is currently detained at the Limestone County Jail.
