Jaquez Myrick Arrested for Possession of Machine Gun After Tuskegee Shooting

25-Year-Old Faces Federal Charge Following Campus Violence

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (January 2025) — Jaquez Myrick, 25, of Montgomery, was arrested on a federal charge for possessing a machine gun in connection with a shooting that occurred on the campus of Tuskegee University early Sunday morning.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Myrick was found in possession of a handgun equipped with a machine gun conversion device. Authorities allege Myrick was seen leaving the scene of the shooting.

The tragic incident resulted in the death of an 18-year-old juvenile, whose body was confirmed at the scene. Additionally, 16 individuals were injured—12 by gunfire, and four others sustained non-gunshot-related injuries. The wounded victims were transported to hospitals in Montgomery and Lee counties.

Myrick now faces serious federal charges linked to the violent event on the university campus. Investigators continue to search for other potential suspects involved in the shooting.
