ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta Police have made several high-profile arrests tied to an organized auto theft ring at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, including 28-year-old Jaquavious Crenshaw.

The arrests were announced Thursday, following months of new security measures aimed at reducing car thefts at the airport.

In November, Atlanta’s Police Chief unveiled enhanced strategies to boost airport safety, including more patrols in parking decks, the use of undercover officers, and updated surveillance technologies.

Police released photos showing recovered stolen vehicles, firearms, car keys, and tools—evidence of the operation’s scale. One of the recent incidents involved Crenshaw allegedly stealing a Kia Forte and Sorento, and attempting to flee in an Audi A6 before being caught by airport security barriers.

These efforts are paying off. Compared to the first half of 2024, auto thefts at the airport have dropped by 42% in 2025, according to the latest police data. This is a significant decline after a report revealed over 300 vehicles were stolen in just 10 months last year.

Investigators believe Crenshaw is part of a larger, well-coordinated criminal enterprise still under investigation. Police say more arrests are expected and continue to encourage vigilance among travelers.

Officers remind all airport visitors to lock their cars, take their keys, remove valuables, and secure any firearms before leaving their vehicles.
