EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Police are on the hunt for a third suspect involved in a bizarre early morning robbery involving a stolen dog.
Evansville Police say 20-year-old Jamon Farmer Jr. and 18-year-old Aiden Smith have been arrested on robbery charges. Authorities allege that Farmer, Smith, and a third suspect, identified as Jeffrey Lambka, intimidated two victims around 4 a.m. Saturday and stole their dog. The victims claimed they believed Farmer had a gun during the incident.
The situation escalated after the suspects reportedly threatened to shoot up the apartment on North Fares Avenue. Police say the suspects contacted the victims shortly after and offered to return the dog in exchange for a bottle of vodka left behind at the apartment.
During the exchange, one of the suspects allegedly struck a victim with the handle of a gun, prompting the victim’s father to fire a warning shot to scare the group off.
Officers later arrested Smith and Farmer and successfully returned the stolen dog to its owner. Jeffrey Lambka remains at large, and police are actively searching for him.
