In a strong action against animal cruelty and unlawful activities, Jammu Police apprehended five individuals involved in organizing an illegal rooster fight in the village of Kharian, R.S. Pura. Multiple vehicles used during the event were also seized.
During a routine patrol, a police team from Police Station R.S. Pura, led by PSI Naresh Kumar and supervised by SHO Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, spotted a gathering where several individuals were forcing roosters to fight for illegal gains.
Upon noticing the police, some participants fled, but five individuals were arrested on the spot. The arrested have been identified as Ram Parshad, Bodh Raj, Ranjit Singh, Arjun Singh, and one minor whose identity is withheld by law.
Other accused, including Nownit Singh from Miran Sahib, Sukha of Dhari, and Satvinder of Deewangarh, managed to escape. Police seized 18 motorcycles at the scene.
An FIR (No. 179/2025) under Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act has been registered at Police Station R.S. Pura. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
