In an ongoing effort to combat the growing menace of drugs, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar, seizing significant quantities of contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.
At a checkpoint established at Kralkhud Chowk, a police party from PS Kralkhud intercepted a vehicle (Etios) with registration number JK01AH-5637. The two individuals in the vehicle were identified as:
Nadeem Shafi Kashani (son of Mohd Shafi Kashani, resident of Sathoo Payeen Barbarshah)
Ashiq Ahmed Hundoo (son of Late Gh Rasool Handoo, resident of Abi-Karpora Dalgate, A/p Hamdania Colony Bemina)
Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered 4 grams of heroin. Both suspects were arrested, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized.
In another operation, a police party from Police Station Safakadal arrested two more drug peddlers at a checkpoint within their jurisdiction. The arrested individuals were:
Nabeel Showkat Zargar (son of Showkat Aziz Zargar, resident of Safakadal Haftayarbal)
Shahriyar Ahmad Mir (son of Mir Ishfaq Ahmad, resident of Rathpora Eidgah)
During the search, police found 11 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 30 strips of Tapentidol, both banned drugs. The suspects were arrested, and cases under relevant laws have been registered.
