Two Suisun City residents have been arrested on multiple felony charges after police linked them to an alleged crime spree involving identity theft and a large theft at a Vacaville supermarket.
Police said the investigation began after an unnamed grocery store reported the theft of more than $2,500 in over-the-counter medications. Surveillance footage and a clear image of the suspects’ gray Mazda SUV helped officers identify 42-year-old Jamie Charles Maurice Thomas as a key suspect.
Using undercover officers and traffic cameras, investigators learned that Thomas had been staying at a nearby Motel 6. Arrest and search warrants were soon issued.
Detectives later stopped the suspect vehicle in Fairfield, where 40-year-old Ondraya Wroten was driving and Thomas was riding in the back seat. A search of the SUV revealed a large quantity of stolen medications, fentanyl, and a radio possibly used to monitor supermarket employees.
Police then searched the motel room associated with the suspects. Inside, officers found counterfeit currency, fraudulent checks, stolen mail, passports, IDs, bank statements, and a replica firearm. The documents contained personal information for roughly 80 victims. Officers contacted at least 23 of them, including one person whose home had recently burned down.
Thomas and Wroten were booked into the Solano County Jail. They face charges including forgery, possession of stolen property, possession of fraudulent checks and currency, and possession of personal identifying information for 10 or more victims.
