BOULDER, Colo. — James Zachariah Jones, 34, was arrested by Boulder Police on December 31, 2024, after a brief standoff in connection with several domestic violence-related charges. Officers located Jones at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Sundown Lane around 11:00 a.m. The suspect was wanted on multiple domestic violence charges, including second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and false imprisonment.

When initial attempts to communicate with Jones and take him into custody failed, the Boulder Police SWAT Team was activated at 11:45 a.m. Officers quickly evacuated several residents from the apartment complex, and after a short standoff, Jones surrendered peacefully and was placed under arrest.

Jones faces the following charges:

Second-degree assault (Class 4 felony)
Third-degree assault (Class 1 misdemeanor)
False imprisonment (Class 2 misdemeanor)
In addition to the domestic violence charges, Jones also had an active warrant out of Pitkin County for Failure to Appear related to a previous third-degree assault charge.

As is standard in criminal cases, Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
