LEEDS, UK — A 37-year-old man has been sentenced to four years and seven months in prison for a string of robberies and burglaries committed in Leeds over a single week in June 2024.
James Thrush, of no fixed abode, appeared before Leeds Crown Court on Thursday, 18 September, where he pleaded guilty to robbery, making off without payment, and two counts of burglary.
The crime spree began on 1 June, when Thrush filled up at a petrol station and drove off without paying. Over the next few days, he committed two separate burglaries, including one at a Roundhay residence, where he stole two televisions.
The most serious offence occurred on 5 June, when Thrush robbed Maidenhead Aquatics on York Road, stealing high-value pond equipment. For that robbery, he received a three-year and four-month sentence. An additional one year and three months was added for one of the burglary charges. He received no separate penalty for the petrol theft or the second burglary.
West Yorkshire Police said the sentence reflects the seriousness and frequency of Thrush’s offending over just one week.
