
WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WECT) — A Whiteville man has been arrested on multiple drug trafficking charges following an investigation sparked by community tips, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
James Nathan Stephens was taken into custody on Sept. 10 by the CCSO Special Operations Unit (SOU) after receiving numerous complaints about possible narcotics activity. Detectives launched an investigation, which ultimately led to Stephens’ arrest on several outstanding drug-related warrants.
Stephens is facing the following charges:
Two counts of Trafficking Methamphetamine
Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance
Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for a Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
“Our Vice/Narcotics Division continues to prioritize the apprehension of repeat offenders and the removal of illegal substances from our communities,” said Sheriff Bill Rogers in a statement. “Every arrest is another step toward making Columbus County safer for our families, and we will not surrender in our fight to keep these dangerous drugs off our streets.”
Stephens was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center and issued a $250,000 secured bond, according to CCSO.
