A Hannibal man, James L. Culp II, 44, has been arrested and is facing multiple charges following a drug investigation. A warrant was issued by the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County on April 4, charging Culp with delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful transport of an illegal weapon, four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation began on April 3, when Culp allegedly agreed to deliver illegal narcotics to a woman in Hannibal. Police stopped Culp, and during a search incident to his arrest, officers found a substantial amount of currency and what they believe to be methamphetamine.
Culp initially refused to consent to a search of his vehicle, but when confronted with the drugs found inside, he claimed the drugs weren’t his and that the money came from his work asphalting.
Culp’s bond has been set at $50,000, and he remains in the Marion County Jail awaiting further proceedings.
