by Amelia Crawford

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities arrested James Edward Bunch, 26, of Summerville, following a brief police chase and search operation involving the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Dorchester County deputies.

The incident occurred Tuesday when Bunch reportedly failed to stop for blue lights and fled on foot in the Ponds neighborhood off Lakewood Circle. In response, deputies deployed K9 units and set up a perimeter to track the suspect.

A call to dispatch about a suspicious person matching Bunch’s description helped officers locate and arrest him without further incident.

Bunch faces multiple charges including:

Possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine

Driving under suspension

Failure to stop for blue lights

He also has additional outstanding warrants in Dorchester County.

Sheriff Sam Richardson praised the coordinated effort, stating, “If you attempt to evade law enforcement in Dorchester County, we will use every available resource to locate you, arrest you, and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”

Bunch is currently being held at the L.C. Knight Detention Center.
