HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two men have been arrested in connection with a brutal assault that took place in Ritter Park on July 16, 2025, and was later widely circulated on social media.
According to the Huntington Police Department, a 22-year-old local resident was viciously attacked by two individuals, suffering serious injuries. The violent incident was filmed and shared across several social platforms, sparking public outrage and accelerating the investigation.
Authorities quickly identified the suspects as James Clapper, 21, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Brock Mazdra, 18, of Huntington, West Virginia. Both were charged with felony malicious assault.
On the evening of Sunday, July 20, Clapper and Mazdra were located and arrested in Kentucky by members of the Kentucky ATF HIDTA Task Force, with the assistance of Huntington police.
The Huntington Police Department expressed gratitude to its law enforcement partners for the swift and coordinated effort that led to the suspects’ capture.
