James Broome Sentenced for Meth Trafficking in Brunswick

Convicted felon gets prison for drugs and firearms

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. — A Brunswick County man has been convicted on multiple drug trafficking and firearm charges, the District Attorney announced.

James Elliot Broome, previously convicted of felony firearm possession, was investigated by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) for drug trafficking. On March 6, BCSO’s SWAT team searched Broome’s home and seized 200 grams of methamphetamine, 7 grams of acetyl-fentanyl, and two handguns.

Broome pleaded guilty to trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He was sentenced to 90–120 months in prison and ordered to pay a $150,000 fine.
