LEXINGTON, Ky. — University of Kentucky running back Jamarion Wilcox has been arrested and charged with first-degree sexual abuse, according to Lexington Police.
Officers responded on August 20 after receiving a report of unwanted sexual contact at a residence on South Upper Street. Court records show that a protective order was filed the same day by a woman alleging Wilcox’s unwanted conduct at an off-campus apartment. A judge granted an emergency protective order.
Wilcox was taken into custody on Friday and charged with sexual abuse in the first degree. He was subsequently released on a $5,000 bond.
In early September, UK’s head coach Mark Stoops confirmed Wilcox’s suspension from the football team for violating a team rule.
The University of Kentucky has issued a statement regarding the ongoing situation.
