MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) – A Wethersfield man, Jakese Sessoms, is facing multiple charges after leading police on a high-speed chase through Middletown on July 22.

Middletown officers were patrolling when they located a vehicle linked to Sessoms, who was already under investigation for suspected drug sales. Officers observed him on Omo Street, allegedly drinking alcohol in public and nearly getting into a physical altercation before he left the area by car.

Police followed Sessoms westbound, eventually onto Ridge Road, where his vehicle allegedly sped up well beyond the posted speed limit. Officers attempted to stop him using a StopStick after getting in front of the vehicle, but Sessoms swerved to avoid it.

He then tried to pass the police vehicle on the right shoulder but crashed into a parked car and came to a stop. According to police, Sessoms initially refused to cooperate—he wouldn’t open the window or door and declined to exit the vehicle.

After being taken into custody, authorities discovered Sessoms had been staying at a woman’s residence and driving her car—despite her having a protective order against him.

Sessoms was charged with the following offenses:

Traveling unreasonably fast

Disobeying the signal of an officer

Engaging police in pursuit

Interfering with an officer/resisting arrest

Reckless driving

Failure to drive in the proper lane

Operating without a license

Violation of a protective order

Second-degree reckless endangerment

Sessoms was briefly hospitalized before being scheduled to appear in court on July 23.
