A Buford man, Jake Daniel Dattilo, was arrested on 17 forgery charges after allegedly posing as a United Rentals employee to fraudulently purchase merchandise.

The Oakwood Police Department (OPD) responded to a fraud report at a Napa Auto Parts store on Mundy Mill Road on August 8 around 10 a.m. The store manager revealed that Dattilo had been committing fraud across multiple Napa stores in north Georgia by using United Rentals business accounts without authorization.

On Tuesday morning, OPD received a tip that Dattilo was headed to the Oakwood Napa location. Officers conducted surveillance and tracked him to a Gainesville Napa store, where he successfully obtained more merchandise through fraudulent means.

Working alongside Gainesville Police Department (GPD), Dattilo was arrested as he exited the store. He is connected to approximately $120,000 in fraudulent transactions.

In addition to forgery, Dattilo faces charges of heroin possession, possession of drug-related objects, and theft by deception.

He is currently held at the Hall County Jail on a $26,000 bond.
