LEESBURG, Va. — Jairo Amaya Sorto has been arrested after surrendering to authorities in connection to an armed robbery at a Sheetz convenience store in Leesburg, Virginia.
The robbery occurred on May 8 at the Sheetz location on 915 Edwards Ferry Road. According to police, two masked suspects, including Sorto, entered the store armed with a gun and demanded money. A third suspect remained outside as a lookout.
All three individuals wore dark clothing and masks, and the pair inside made off with an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.
Sorto later turned himself in and has been charged with robbery using a firearm. He is currently being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The other two suspects have not yet been identified or apprehended.
This incident is one of multiple armed robberies at Sheetz locations in the area. On June 3, Fidel Ordonez Molina, 19, and Jose A. Rosa Munoz, 19, were arrested following a separate armed robbery at the same Edwards Ferry Road location. Molina faces additional charges of larceny.
Police are also investigating a third armed robbery that occurred on May 18 at another Sheetz store on 601 California Drive in Leesburg.
