GREECE, N.Y. – A Rochester man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into a home early Thursday morning, according to the Greece Police Department.
Jaiquan Goins, 25, was arrested after officers responded to a burglary in progress on Chippendale Road just before 3:15 a.m. Authorities say Goins forced entry through a damaged rear sliding door, confronted the homeowner, and demanded her keys before fleeing with stolen items.
Police quickly established a perimeter and deployed aerial drone surveillance and K9 support from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Goins was located shortly after the break-in, reportedly checking car door handles further down the road.
“This is an outstanding example of how technology, teamwork, and skilled police work come together to keep our community safe,” said Greece Police Chief Michael Wood. “I commend the officers for their professionalism and dedication.”
Goins has been charged with:
Burglary
Petit larceny
Criminal mischief
Police noted that Goins has an extensive criminal record, including multiple previous arrests for home burglaries. He is also accused of breaking into a second home on Chippendale Road that same morning.
Goins was arraigned and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
