Rajasthan police have busted an interstate burglary gang linked to a high-value theft in Jaipur’s C-Scheme area, arresting two members from New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The case relates to a January 28 burglary in Bhagirath Colony, Jaipur, when the gang broke into a vacant house and stole cash and jewellery worth around Rs 25 lakh. An FIR was lodged at Vidhayakpuri police station, and a special team was formed to track the perpetrators.
Investigation Details
Police examined feeds from nearly 500 CCTV cameras along the gang’s escape route. With additional inputs from the Cyber Cell of Jaipur Police, raids were conducted in Mayur Vihar, New Delhi and Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the arrests.
Accused Identified
The arrested suspects are:
Shan Mohammad alias Shanu (25) – resident of Trilokpuri, New Delhi; notorious interstate criminal with 35 previous cases, including theft, burglary, assault, robbery, and Arms Act violations; twice convicted.
Shakeel Ahmad – resident of Chandpur, Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh.
Modus Operandi
Police revealed that the gang:
Surveyed locked or vacant houses
Broke in when occupants were away
Stole vehicle number plates
Divided the loot to fund lavish lifestyles
Authorities are investigating the gang for possible other accomplices and tracing their whereabouts.
