Jaipur police have arrested three men in connection with a major fake currency racket after they were caught in possession of counterfeit Indian currency notes worth Rs 85 lakh. The suspects were apprehended after being involved in a series of fraudulent activities, including duping individuals with the fake money.
The arrested individuals, identified as Surendra Singh (50), Shivam Singh Bareth (24), and Prem Chand (45), are suspected to have used printers to produce fake currency notes. According to DCP (West) Amit Kumar, the counterfeit bills were cleverly mixed with genuine ones—genuine notes were placed at the top of the bundle to trick victims.
The gang’s fraudulent operations were uncovered on August 14, when they rented a truck under false pretenses from VKI. After deceiving the driver, they drove the vehicle to Begas village in Bagru, where they purchased 82 goats from local farmers using the counterfeit money. However, their plan was foiled when the villagers grew suspicious and detained the gang members before alerting the police.
Upon the police’s arrival, the suspects were arrested, and during a search of their vehicle, Rs 9 lakh in fake currency was recovered. The police have filed cases of truck theft, goat theft, and possession of counterfeit currency, and investigations are ongoing to track the full extent of the gang’s activities.
