Jaipur city’s crime branch arrested three men on Tuesday and seized synthetic drugs with an estimated international market value of Rs 5.50 lakh during an operation under “Clean Sweep” in the Transport Nagar area.
Special Police Commissioner (Operations), Rahul Prakash, stated that the arrests followed specific inputs about illegal narcotics trafficking. Acting on the information, police intercepted a Tata Tiago car and recovered 53.72 grams of MD (mephedrone crystal drug) from the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Tarun Singh (29) – Shanti Nagar, Sodala
Lokendra Singh (26) – Majdoor Nagar, Ajmer Road
Prashant Sharma (32) – Vaishali Nagar
The vehicle used to transport the drugs was also seized.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Transport Nagar Police Station, and further investigation is ongoing. During interrogation, the accused claimed that they procured the contraband from Faridabad in Haryana from a Nigerian national.
Prakash emphasized that the crime branch is intensifying its crackdown on synthetic drug networks in Jaipur. “Operations like these will continue to dismantle supply chains and identify both local distributors and inter-state links,” he said.
Police are now probing the financial trails, supply routes, and potential interstate connections of the accused. Further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.
