UTICA — Jahzire Brown, 23, of Rome, faces charges after allegedly attempting to use another person’s identity and credit card to buy cigarettes at the Stewart’s Shop on Court Street early June 2, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police say when employees questioned Brown about the suspicious transaction around 5:10 a.m., he responded by grabbing multiple packs of cigarettes from behind the counter. A physical altercation reportedly broke out when employees tried to stop him.
Authorities are investigating the incident further as Brown faces charges related to theft and assault.
