BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – A Staten Island man has been convicted of murder in the 2020 stabbing death of his brother-in-law in Bridgeport.

On May 8, a jury unanimously found 27-year-old Jahleel Bailey guilty of murder, carrying a dangerous weapon, and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the death of 36-year-old Brandon Goode.

According to trial testimony, Bailey stabbed Goode multiple times on Harral Avenue around 7 p.m. on December 13, 2020. Goode was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

After the incident, Bailey fled to Staten Island, where he was arrested on January 11, 2021, and later extradited to Connecticut on January 29, 2021.

A jury of seven men and five women deliberated for just half a day before delivering the guilty verdicts. Sentencing is scheduled for July 8.
